Protect Your Immune System

You can’t turn on the news, check your e mail, or even get on social media without hearing something about the coronavirus, or COVID-19.  While any virus or illness is scary, how worried should we be?  The CDC defines the virus as a respiratory illness that is spread from person to person.  This illness originated in China, so being in close contact with anyone who has recently returned from the area of China where the disease is most prevalent, will probably expose you to the disease.  Because this is a respiratory illness, the most common symptoms are fever, cough, and shortness of breath.  As of right now, there is no vaccine, and because this is a virus, there is no antibiotic that will cure this illness.

As a chiropractor, I’m hesitant to take drugs or get vaccines.  I’m not saying that you shouldn’t if that is what you think is best for you; please do your research and come up with a plan that you feel is best for your family.   We all know that proper hand washing, covering your mouth when you sneeze or cough, and staying home when you are sick are good ways to prevent illness.   My goal every winter season is to support my immune system so when illness does strike, I will either be strong enough to fight it and never show symptoms, or not have as severe symptoms.  One way I help support my immune system is to take elderberry syrup.  Elderberries are filled with antioxidants and vitamins A, B, and C.  Each of these elements help enhance the immune system, and help reduce inflammation.

This year, I have found the best elderberry syrup!  Many of you have probably already heard of Hope’s Homemade elderberry products.  She is a staple at the Peachtree City Farmer’s Market, and she is on Facebook and Instagram.  She has made a product that is not only good for you, it tastes great too.  She blends elderberries, raw honey, ginger, ceylon cinnamon, and cloves to make a great immune boosting syrup.  She uses as many organic ingredients as she can to help your immune system stay strong and focus on fighting whatever bacteria or virus may enter your body.  I’ve had issues in the past finding Hope’s amazing elderberry syrup, but that won’t happen again!!  Here at Complete Chiropractic Center, in Peachtree City, we have Hope’s Homemade syrup!  We will be selling her 16 ounce syrup in the office for $20 per jar.  If you are running out of syrup, or if you start to feel under the weather and can’t wait for the Farmer’s Market, stop by the office and get your immune system supported.

As with any illness, if you do have a fever and it gets worse, or your symptoms worsen, call your medical doctor immediately.  If you have any questions about elderberries, or the syrup I would be happy to answer them any time.  You can also look up Hope on Instagram or Facebook at elderhope4956.
